Love Notes: My Journey Through Self-Love

In the domain of personal exploration and introspection, there exists a subject both profound and pertinent: self-love. This March, together with my colleague-and-friend Grace, we embarked on a journey through the intricacies of self-affirmation, introspection, and empowerment.

Across four instalments throughout the month of March, we embarked on a journey navigating the delicate dance between self-assurance and vulnerability, unveiling the transformative power nestled within the depths of self-love. It soon became evident that our purpose extended beyond mere information dissemination; our mission was to illuminate and to unravel the intricacies and subtleties of self-love, shedding light on its profound complexities and nuanced nuances. With each instalment, we not only unpacked the challenges but also uncovered invaluable insights that illuminate the path towards greater self-compassion and fulfilment.

  • Series 1 Episode 1, “Learning the Hard Way,” served as a stark reminder of the pivotal role self-love plays in shielding ourselves from toxic influences. Through raw (but rather quick) introspection and personal narratives, we confronted the reality that insufficient self-love can inadvertently open the floodgates to negativity and harmful relationships.
  • In Episode 2, “Enabling Toxic Behaviours,” we trampled through the intricate web of reasons why we often find ourselves perpetuating harmful dynamics in our relationships. From a lack of self-love to neglecting our own boundaries, we explored the underlying factors contributing to the enabling of toxic behaviors from others.
  • Episode 3, “Romanticising Romantic Love,” challenged societal norms and perceptions surrounding love, urging us to broaden our understanding of its diverse manifestations. Through thought-provoking reflections, we embarked on a journey of redefinition, exploring the beauty of platonic, familial, and self-love beyond the confines of commercialised narratives.
  • Finally in Episodes 4 and 5, where in “Taming Unprocessed Feelings,” we confronted the perilous consequences of leaving our emotions unresolved. Through practical strategies and heartfelt discussions, “How Well Do You Know Yourself” discusses into the importance of self-awareness and self-compassion in managing and processing our feelings.
